Nitish ridicules tweeting-mania of BJP bigwigs

Patna,(BiharTimes): When Nitish Kumar came to power on November 24, 2005 he showed the promise that he is an IT-savvy politician.

He would often ridicule that when he came to power Bihar had only Remington type-writers––though it was sheer exaggeration. Many of the state government offices had already been computerized or were in the process of doing so.

When, at the turn of the century, the then Rabri Devi government distributed desktop computer sets to all the legislators after they were installed in the state Secretariat and Assembly media poked fun on the plea that these elected representatives do not know how to handle it. Later in August 2001, while answering a question, RJD chief Lalu Yadav asked: Ye IT wyti kiya hota hai (What is this IT wyti). The truth is that the media, especially some private television channels, deliberately misinterpreted what he exactly wanted to convey. After all masala sells more than serious version of the same story.

Anyway, Nitish promised a new beginning. For a couple of years it seemed that he is serious and Bihar would soon be on the information technology highway. However, hardly any headway was made in this direction as no IT major came to the state to make investment. The power scenario got worsened and there was hardly any scope for IT revolution.

Post NDA split of June 16, Nitish started speaking the language of Lalu Yadav––or at least media has started interpreting it in that way.

On Monday the same Nitish Kumar, while talking to the media, took a dig at his Gujarat counterpart for using Twitter to score political points.

Without taking the name of BJP leaders he said they were turning the sweet chirping of birds into the jarring sounds of politics.

The Bihar chief minister said the dictionary meaning of twitter is the chirping of birds which sounds very pleasant, especially in the morning. But some leaders, through excessive tweeting, have turned it into a jarring sound.

Talking to reporters after Janata Ke Darbar mein Mukhya Mantri he said these leader seem to have no other work than to make political statements for the media.

They even want to monopolize Twitter, he said, while revealing his disdain for Modi and company’s obsession for social media.
