Cabinet increases Bihar Contingency Fund


Patna,(BiharTimes): The Nitish cabinet on Tuesday enhanced the corpus of the Bihar Contingency Fund (BCF) tillMarch 30 next year from Rs 350 crore to Rs 1,800 crore to tackle the drought and flood situation in the state.

According to secretary, cabinet secretariat department Brajesh Mehrotra the huge increase in the BCF has been made mainly for carrying out relief and rehabilitation work in view of the flood and drought situation in the state. 

The cabinet approved a proposal of the disaster management department to release an advance amount of Rs 40 crore from the BCF in view of the floods in the state.

It also decided to extend diesel subsidy grant for paddy and maize irrigation to protect crops in drought affected districts.

The cabinet also approved Rs 429.57 crore for constructing police station buildings, barracks and residential buildings for policemen in various parts of the state. These buildings would be made by the Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation.

It also okayed a sum of Rs 646.82 crore for the distribution of school uniform for girls studying in government and government-aided (including minorities) primary schools (class I-VIII) under the Mukhyamantri Balika Poshak Yojana.
