Justice Seema Ali Khan passes away


Patna,(BiharTimes): Justice Seema Ali Khan of Patna high court died of a long illness at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon on Wednesday afternoon. She was 60 and was suffering from cancer. She is survived by husband, Safdar Ali Khan, a son who practices in the Supreme Court and a
married daughter.
Seema is the eighth judge to die in service since Patna high court came into existence in 1916. She was to retire from the high court in September 2015.
Her body was brought here on Thursday morning and kept at her official residence 3, Anne Marg. The burial was held at her family graveyard at Baoli Masjid in Patna City on Thursday evening, close to the grave of her father Justice Sarwar Ali, the former acting chief justice of Patna high court and Lokayukta of Bihar.
The high court and its offices remained close on Thursday as a mark of respect to her. She was appointed to the high court in October 2006. Chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed his profound grief over her death and said her last rites would be performed with full state honours. He said she was a popular lawyer and judge and the judiciary has suffered a major loss in her death.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad and former chief minister Rabri Devi, party MPRam Kripal Yadav, RJD legislature party leader in Assembly, Abdul Bari Siddiqui and state president Ramchandra Purbey, in a joint condolencemessage, expressed their grief and sorrow over her death.
