Bihar cabinet nod for expansion of school management committees

Patna,(BiharTimes): The state cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval to a proposal to expand and strengthen school management committees to supervise implementation of the free mid-day meal and other functions.

The school management committee will now have 17 members instead of 14 earlier. Thus the cabinet gave its nod to amend Bihar State Right to Free and Compulsory Education Rules.

According to the Principal Secretary Cabinet Coordination Brajesh Mehrotra it will now have nine women members, whose children are students of the school and will be headed by ward counsellor in urban areas and panchayat member in rural areas.

Those donating above Rs 10 lakh to the school himself or representative nominated by the donor would be included in the committee.

The latest move came after the Masrakh school tragedy of July 16 in which 23 children died after taking mid-day meal.
