Power employees attack chief engineers, accused them of betrayal

Patna,(BiharTimes): A day after the lightning strike the agitating employees of Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited (BSPHCL), the erstwhile BSEB, on Saturday, assaulted four chief engineers inside their office at Vidyut Bhavan near Income Tax roundabout.

They accused the chief engineers of betraying them by restoring power supply in the state despite their strike on Friday night following the brutal police lathicharge on their colleagues.

The injured chief engineers––S K P Singh (South Bihar Power Distribution Company), S K Singh (North Bihar Power Distribution Company), C L Prakash and D N Tiwari––were taken to Patna Medical College and Hospital from where they were discharged later.

Violence were fuelled by the rumours that two of the employees, succumbed to injuries on Saturday. However, the state government strongly denied it.

The power workers alleged that junior engineer Makhdum of Gaya district and Ram Naresh Sharma, a peon - were missing after the police lathicharge on Friday.

The employees charged that the four chief engineers held meetings with the officials at the chief minister’s office on Friday night and made arrangements for restoring power across the state when they were on strike. They termed this as sheer betrayal.
