Cabinet sanctions Rs 2579.17 crore for maintenance, repair of roads

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar cabinet on Tuesday sanctioned Rs 2579.17 crore for the maintenance and repair of 9064.31km of state highways and main district roads under its “Long-term output and performance-based road assets maintenance contract” for next five years. A sum of Rs 610 crore has been allocated for the current financial year.

According to the cabinet secretariat department secretary Brajesh Mehrotra the road maintenance policy would cover ordinary and periodic maintenance, initial rectification, minor repair and emergency situation. Out of the total 9,064km of roads, 6,626kms are district main roads.

The cabinet cleared the proposal to set up 'Mithila Chitrakala Sansthan' in Madhubani.

It also gave nod to the proposal to set up Bihar Statistical System Development Agency (BSSDA) and Rs 3.70 crore was sanctioned for it. The cabinet also cleared 71 posts to run the agency.

The health department proposal to create separate dental cadre posts of 617 dentists was also approved. The process would be initiated soon to appoint dentists at PHCs and sadar hospitals.

There would be 488 posts of dental doctors, 73 posts of junior staff surgeons (dental), 55 posts of staff surgeons (dental) and one joint director of dental services.

The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 25 crore to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna, for its establishment expenditure.

A faculty of electrical engineering department in the newly set up B P Mandal Engineering College, Madhepura also got the nod. The proposal to create 64 academic and 75 technical/administrative posts in the college was also approved.

The state cabinet also cleared a proposal for Rs 94.97 crore to Aryabhatta Knowledge University. A sum of Rs 28 crore would soon be released.

A green signal have been given to the implementation of Centre-sponsored Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and Integrated System Strengthening & Nutrition Improvement Project (ISSNIP).
