Ex-gratia payment for victims of extremists’ violence, riots increased from Rs one to five lakh

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar cabinet on Tuesday increased the ex-gratia amount from Rs one lakh to Rs five lakh to be paid to the next of the kin of those killed in terror or Maoists’ attacks, communal or caste clashes, poll violence and other such incidents of violence in Bihar.

The Centre provides Rs four lakh as compensation amount in such cases.

The cabinet also approved Rs five crore for paying compensation to the next of the kin of those killed and injured in non-natural disasters. The funds would be utilised in the current fiscal of 2013-14 from the Bihar contingency fund.
