Nitish welcomes Raghuram Rajan report, says it vindicated his stand

Patna,(BiharTimes): Though the Raghuram Rajan committee talked about ending the special category status to the states Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday claimed that the report has vindicated his principled stand.

Talking to the media in Patna on Thursday he said that the report is the result of a long struggle by his party Janata Dal (United), which organized two Adhikar rallies on November 4 and March 17 in Patna and New Delhi in this regard.

Welcoming Raghuram Rajan panel report he said it has ranked Bihar among India’s least advanced states.

He said it is even better that there would be something newer than the special category. It means the doors are now open for more help to the state and that is what the demand was.

“We said earlier that new parameters have to be implemented," he said while congratulating the people of Bihar for creating a nationwide impact with their battle for right to development.

Nitish brushed aside the opposition criticism, especially of former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, by stating that he would have welcomed it had he been on his post now.
