Uday Narayan Choudhary strikes deal with Maoists: Intelligence reports

Patna,(BiharTimes): Central intelligence agencies have sent specific inputs on reports that Bihar Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary has paid huge amount of money to the Maoists in Jamui parliamentary constituency to seek their support. He is a Janata Dal (United) candidate from Jamui.

However, Choudhary has denied any link with the Maoists.

According to a report published in the Mail Today the Maoists might be urging voters to boycott the upcoming general elections, but it seems they can help candidates secure votes if paid money.

The report said that in a secret note sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on March 30, the intelligence agencies revealed that Uday Narayan Choudhary is seeking support from the rebels.

“The input reveals that Maoists in Jamui area have reportedly came to an understanding with Choudhary and reportedly given him an assurance that they will support him during the general elections 2014,” the central agencies note said.

Though Choudhary refuted that he had any link with the Left extremists, the truth is that in the past too such allegations have been levelled against him when he contested Assembly election from Imamganj in Gaya district.

The note said the candidate recently contacted Maoist leader Sidhu Koda, platoon commander, Special Platoon, and pursued him to support him. “Sidhu Koda and other Maoist leaders reportedly decided to support Uday Narayan Choudhary in lieu of money,” it further said.

The note says at a time when Maoists in the area have been distributing pamphlets and urging voters to boycott polls, a few local leaders are indulging in striking such deals with candidates and are charging money for supporting them.
