I-T move to check flow of black money on eve of LS poll

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): As a part of its drive against black money and unaccounted flow of cash in the parliamentary elections the Income Tax (I-T) department in Bihar has seized Rs 41.50 lakh in raids carried out in Darbhanga and Bagha in West Champaran district. Challans of Rs 9.80 lakh have also been seized by the department.

According to I-T director general, Bihar and Jharkhand, Ujjwal Chaudhary the police too have separately seized over Rs one crore cash from different places in Bihar and Jharkhand.

An amount of Rs 50 lakh was detected in the account of All Jharkhand Student Union (AJSU) as ‘unexplained loan’ from two builders. The I-T department has asked 12 registered political parties to furnish details of their accounts till March 2014.

He said that the I-T department has deployed more than 200 personnel in the two states and was carrying intensive search at Patna, Gaya and Ranchi airports to keep vigil over passengers including chartered aircraft, private planes and helicopters.
