Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief minister Nitish Kumar has come under strong criticism for sharing dais with “Janab Javed Khan”, a murder accused and the Gaya district president of Janata Dal (United) Minority Cell.

On Friday Javed presided over an election meeting addressed by the chief minister at Railway Maidan in Gaya. He did so in spite of the fact that an arrest warrant has been pending against Javed since December last.

However, the police swung into action later in the day only after the media raised the issue.

Though former minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh was quick to criticize Nitish the fact is that the murder of Naushad Khan, a real estate dealer, took place in April last year when the BJP too was in power. Javed was among those made accused, but was not arrested because of the right political connection.

Javed is a former councillor of Gaya Municipal Corporation.

After his arrest Javed was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate K K Singh who sent him to 14 days judicial custody.

However, water resources minister Vijay Chaudhary, said the moment the incident came to light he was arrested and sent to jail which shows the government’s commitment to deal promptly with lawbreakers.
