Nitish flays Bukhari’s support to Congress

Patna,(BiharTimes): Criticizing the support to Congress, RJD and Trinamool Congress announced by Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, Ahmed Bukhari, the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said that such move by the the party President Sonia Gandhi would hardly yield any result.

He said that Sonia is trying to play a communal card, but it is a weak card which would not help her party. He also flayed Sonia’s meeting with Bukhari a couple of days before the latter gave the call to support the Congress.

Nitish said that Sonia has been distributing certificates of secularism all across the country though her party had done very little for the welfare of minority communities.

In contrast the chief minister said he put his government in Bihar at risk to fight against communalism. He also asked the Congress president as to who were responsible for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the 1989 communal violence in Bhagalpur.

Meanwhile, the RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, while addressing an election rally in Gaya held Nitish Kumar directly responsible for the growth of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state. He said that Nitish was in the lap of the BJP for 17 long years and kept his mouth shut when communal incidents took place in Gujarat and elsewhere in the country.

He also said that the issue of communalism is being cunningly put on the back burner and corruption is being made an issue to hoodwink the people.
