Congress announces candidate for Maharajganj by-poll

Patna,(BiharTimes): After withdrawing two of its candidates for the by-polls in Bihar the Congress on Saturday announced the name of its nominee from Maharajganj Assembly seat.

In all by-elections are being held in the five Assembly constituencies of the state.

Accoridng to the vice president of the state Congress, Prem Chand Mishra, the party has declared Kutul Krishna as its candidate for Maharajganj Assembly seat hoping that Rashtriya Janata Dal would not field its nominee. He, however, added that if RJD still contests Maharajganj and two other seats in the by-polls it was ready for a friendly fight.

Kutul Krishna is the state spokesman of the party.

The party has already declared Manoj Kumar Singh as its nominee for Chiraiya Assembly seat in East Champaran and Ravindra Kumar Singh for Sahebpur Kamal in Begusrai district in the by-elections, he said.

Congress had already withdrawn its candidates from Baisi in Purnea district and Kocha Dhaman in Kisanganj district in favour of its ally RJD. However, both these Assembly segments fall in Kishanganj parliamentary constituency where the RJD is backing Congress candidate, Asrar-ul-Haque.
