After NaMo, Ram Vilas may be in trouble over marital status

Patna,(BiharTimes): Like BJP’s prime ministerial nominee, Narendra Modi, the chief of Lok Janshakti Party, Ram Vilas Paswan, may land in trouble over the matrimonial status.

Modi, while filing his nomination papers last week, for the first time filled that he is married, Ram Vilas made no mention of his first wife, Raj Kumari, whom he married in 1960s. When he became the MP for the first time in 1977 Raj Kumari was his wife and there was no mention of Reena, who is actually from Haryana.

Like in the past few elections this time too he mentioned the name of Reena Paswan (Reena Sharma, when unmarried), whom he actually married in 1983. Her son, Chirag, is now in politics and contesting from Jamui seat. Besides, there is a daughter Nisha from the second marriage.

Ram Vilas has two daughters––Usha and Asha––from his first wife. Both are married. Usha is married to the son of Punit Rai, former party MLA from Fatuha, while Asha to an excise department inspector.

Incidentally, in his nomination papers he has mentioned that he has three daughters and one son. But what he had not mentioned is that they are from two wives.

The Hindu Marriage Act prohibits a man from marrying a second time without securing divorce from the first wife.
