BJP-JD(U) locked in donation wrangle in Bihar

Patna,(BiharTimes): Though the Bharatiya Janata Party is under fire for receiving huge funds from big corporate houses, in Bihar its state president, Mangal Pandey, on Friday accused the Janata Dal (United) of demanding donation money from Tata Projects Ltd and other traders and businessmen for the Lok Sabha election.

However, the Janata Dal (United) sees no wrong in it as it has demanded the money openly and through bank cheque or draft.
Producing a letter written by JD(U) state unit general secretary Rabindra Singh to the Patna office of Tata Projects, Mangal Pandey said while chief minister Nitish Kumar says the BJP takes financial support from corporate houses during elections, the Janata Dal (United) itself is knocking on the doors of businessmen and traders for the poll campaign.
The JD(U) letter says: “On behalf of Bihar Pradesh Janata Dal(U), I am writing this to seek your financial support by cheque/draft for conducting our campaign for upcoming Lok Sabha elections, 2014.”
Pandey alleged that the Janata Dal (United) leaders have made phone calls to various traders and businessmen to seek financial support.
However, the JD(U) hits back stating that there is nothing wrong in such donations from traders and businessmen during elections.
Rabindra Singh conceded that his party had written letters demanding financial support for polls. “We have asked traders and businessmen to provide us funds through cheque or draft and there is nothing to hide.”
Singh futher said his party was transparent enough to disclose from where the party receives its funds and demanded that the BJP, too, should disclose from where it was receiving funds.
