BJP tries to wash its hands of Giriraj’s “go to Pakistan” remarks

Patna,(BiharTimes): When BJP’s prime ministerial pick Narendra Modi called Aam Admi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal a Pakistani agent and AK-49 the party did not deem it fit to disapprove it.
But when the saffron party’s Nawada candidate and staunch NaMo loyalist, Giriraj Singh, said that people opposing Narendra Modi would have to go to Pakistan after the Lok Sabha elections the party tried to wash its hands of from his utterances.
Former Bihar chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi was quick to give a statement disapproving the remarks. The BJP was rather compelled to say that this was Giriraj’s personal opinion and not that of the party.
First he said so in Patna a couple of days back, than repeated it twice in election meetings in Jharkhand. Once he even said so in the presence of the former national president of the party, Nitin Gadkari.
He told an election meeting in Deogarh in Jharkhand on Friday: “Those opposing Narendra Modi are looking at Pakistan, and such people will have place in Pakistan and not in India."
On Saturday he even tweeted that “I maintain many Pakistani pro are constantly opposing namo (Narendra Modi). this nation belongs to Indian at heart else Pakistan always welcome anti India (sic)”.
However, instead of Gadkari it was Sushil Modi who on Sunday came out with a statement against Giriraj. In fact Gadkari himself was caught saying something objectionable about caste-ism in Bihar.
Sushil Modi’s statement came after Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Janata Dal (United) leaders strongly denounced Giriraj’s utterances. They also came down heavily on Gadkari’s statement made in Bihar.
SuMo wrote on Twitter on Sunday that BJP did not approve of “irresponsible statement” given by Giriraj Singh.
Though Giriraj is yet to comment on Sushil Modi’s tweet there is no denying the fact that both are bitter rivals in the Bihar BJP.
However, Giriraj too tweeted on Sunday: “Two ideas are contesting this election save india and save congress (sic).”
The fact is that the party chose to ignore Giriraj till now though as far back as April 9 he had tweeted: “Those chanting secular, secular should open an NGO in Pakistan and Bangladesh and should work for minority betterment (sic).”
Reports said that the Election Commission is likely to take suo motu action against him. “The statement is controversial and needs to be examined. First, we will examine it and then proceed accordingly,” additional chief electoral officer R Lakshmanan was quoted in a section of the media.
