BJP to contest nine seats, LJP one in Bihar by-poll

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bharatiya Janata Party would contest nine out of 10 seats for which by-poll is scheduled to take place on August `21. It has left only one seat, Parbatta, for the Lok Janshakti Party, while Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Samata Party will not contest any seat.

The announcement in this regard was made on Thursday.

The BJP has decided to field Rashmi Verma from Narkatiaganj, Rampreet Paswan (Rajnagar, SC), Ramnivas Prasad (Jale), Kanhaiya Singh (Chapra), Avadhesh Kumar (Hajipur), Rajesh Singh (Mohiuddinnagar), Nabhay Choudhary (Bhagalpur), Ramnarayan Mandal (Banka) and Niranjan Ram (Mohania, SC).

Interestingly, BJP scored over JD(U) by giving ticket to Rashmi Verma, a relative of first President Dr Rajendra Prasad, from Narkatiaganj in West Champaran district.

Verma had joined the JD(U) a month ago hoping to contest on a party ticket, but the seat went to Congress. So she was lured by the BJP.
