BJP denies ticket to family members of MPs

Patna,(BiharTimes): None of the family members of the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party MPs got ticket for the by-polls to be held on August 21. The party is contesting nine out of 10 seats leaving one for the alliance partner the Lok Janshakti Party.

Thus it refused to bow to the pressure of the five MPs––who got elected to Lok Sabha––to give ticket to their family members. They are eAshwani Kumar Choubey, Satish Chandra Dubey, Chhedi Paswan, Nityanand Rai and Janardan Singh Sigriwal.

Incidentally, three party hoppers who joined the BJP on different occasions this year, got ticket.

According to the state party chief Mangal Pandey BJP’s national president, Amit Shah, finally cleard the names of the nine candidates.

They are Rashmi Verma (Narkatiaganj), Awadhesh Kumar (Hajipur), Kanhaiya Singh (Chhapra), Ram Niwas Prasad (Jale), Ram Prit Paswan (Rajnagar), Rajesh Singh (Mohiuddinagar), Ram Narain Mandal (Banka), Nabhay Choudhary (Bhagalpur) and Niranjan Ram (Mohania).

As reported Rashmi Verma, a relative of the first President Rajendra Prasad, who was tipped to contest Narkatiaganj on JD (U) ticket, crossed over and joined the BJP as she lost hope of being nominated by her own party. In fact JD(U) could not field her as the seat went to the alliance partner, the Congress.

Ram Niwas Prasad, former RJD MLA, had joined the BJP early this year. In the same way Niranjan Ram had contested the Mohania seat unsuccessfully on the RJD ticket and had also joined the BJP this year.
Except Ram Narain Mandal, the other five of the rest six candidates are fresh in electoral battle.
