“Case of culpable homicide should be filed against former CM, his deputy, WRD minister”

Patna,(BiharTimes): A case of culpable homicide should be filed against the then Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, the then water resources minister, Bijendra Yadav, WRD secretary, chief engineers and all the officials and employees posted on duty when the devastating flood ravage the entire Kosi belt in August 2008.

Reacting to the 750-page Walia Commission report on 2008 deluge Mahendra Yadav, founder of the Kosi Navnirman Manch and national convenor of the National Alliance of Peoples’ Movement (NAPM), expressed surprise as to why the Commission had not fixed blame on anyone for this tragedy which took lives of thousands of people as well as cattle.

Stating that the report is just a ‘lipapoti’ (eye-wash) he said that if the Commission had felt that it was a man-made disaster than why no person had been made responsible.

The Commission had said that it is a man-made tragedy, but why no man has been held responsible, he asked.

Mahendra Yadav directly blamed Nitish Kumar, Sushil Kumar Modi, Bijendra Yadav and other officials responsible for it.
