State govt going soft on criminals: BJP

Patna,(BiharTimes): Alleging that the state government is going soft on criminals the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday once again evoked the fear of the return of ‘Jungle Raj’ in Bihar.

Talking to the media former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said the government was patronising criminal elements after the JD(U) entered into alliance with the RJD for the by-polls to 10 Assembly seats on August 21.

He said that the relatives of former RJD MP Prabhunath Singh, who played a key role in bringing Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar together, have been let off in a murder case.

According to him Singh’s younger brother Kedarnath Singh, who is an RJD MLA, elder brother Dinanath Singh and nephew Sudhir Kumar Singh have been given a breather in the murder case of the bodyguard of JD(U) leader Kameshwar Singh three years ago. The case is being handed over to the CID for probe despite the fact that the then Muzaffarpur zone IG Gupteshwar Pandey had submitted a chargesheet in the said case in the Patna High Court on June 24, 2012, SuMo added.

The leader of opposition in Council said that the three accused, who had been evading arrest after rejection of their anticipatory bail by a district court, were seen publicly at a function with Randhir Singh, son of Prabhunath Singh, who filed his nomination from Chapra Assembly seat recently.
