President receives late D P Yadav’s book onMunger

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday received the first copy of a book, “Munger Through The Ages”, written by former Union minister late D P Yadav, at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Speaking on the occasion at Rashtrapati Bhawan he said that he had a long association with Yadav, who was first elected to Parliament in 1971.

The then prime minister, Indira Gandhi, had at that time made him deputy education minister.

The President lauded the active role he played as a parliamentarian and the contributions he made to the development of the Panchayati Raj Act and the preparation of the Report of the Mandal Commission.

He said the late leader was focused on rural development, agro forestry projects and waste land development.

The President said in the book, the author had not only enumerated the rich history and heritage of Munger district in Bihar, but also

described its geographical and demographic features, its administration in the early days of independent India and many aspects of its modern day challenges
