Lalu’s legal weakness prompts Manjhi to prop Nitish’s name for CM post

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi might have clarified that Nitish Kumar is his personal choice for the post of chief minister and not that of the alliance partners, RJD and Congress, there is no denying the fact that the Janata Dal (United) would forcefully back him as its candidate in the next Assembly election.
His choice as Nitish was backed by two party spokesmen and several other leaders. It seems that Manjhi wanted to test the political waters by giving such statements and than clarifying his position.
As Lalu Prasad is legally not in position to stake claim for this post and Rabri Devi may not suit the job in the present political situation where the BJP is a powerful rival the RJD too may, notwithstanding its stronger support base than JD(U), reluctantly agree to the name of Nitish Kumar.
True the RJD leaders have reacted to the chief minister’s statements yet the reaction was not as sharp and widespread as expected. After all Lalu is well aware of his political compulsion. Not only that, he would not like any other person from the RJD to be nominated as the chief ministerial candidate.
The best choice for Lalu would be to get Rabri, or amy other member of the family, sent to the Rajya Sabha so that it may provide base to him to do politics in Delhi.
As both Lalu and Nitish have seriously lost their bargaining position they have––notwithstanding their two decades long animosity––agreed to join hands against the BJP.
