Patna,(BiharTimes): The income-tax department on Thursday carried out simultaneous raids on 27 premises of Gupta group––among other things owners of Krishna Bhog and Raj Bhog brands of flour––located at different places in the country and detected 12 bank lockers besides Rs 70 lakh cash.
According to Director, Investigation, I-T, Kumar Sanjay the family had bank lockers at different banks in Delhi, Patna and Darbhanga. Altogether 200 income-tax personnel were deployed by the department for conducting raids.
He said during the raids, the department looked for manipulation in records to conceal income while inflating expenses by making bogus entries. He said elaborate raids were carried out in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Hajipur, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur and New Delhi.
He said Gupta Nutrition Private Limited, Star Flour Mills, Vaishali Flour Mills, Danapur Flour Mills, River Valley Flour Mills, Mithila Flour Mills, Sita Flour Mills, Darbhanga Flour Mills and Danapur Iron and Steel Private Limited were prominent among the entities raided.
Ashwini Gupta, Shivbhagwan Gupta, Prem Prakash Gupta and Sameer Gupta are the owners of these firms.
