306 teachers dismissed for having fake degrees

Patna,(BiharTimes): In all 306 out of 32,000-odd teachers, who were appointed on regular basis (not contract teachers) in 2012, have been dismissed from service as it has been found that they have secured employment through fake degrees.
According to R S Singh, joint director of Primary Education Department of Bihar, 39 teachers each were dismissed in Vaishali and Gopalganj districts while 36 in Kaimur district.
In 2010 the Supreme Court had, after a prolong litigation, ordered the state government to appoint 34,540 trained teachers on regular basis.
In 2012 the state government completed the appointment process of 32,127 teachers on a regular basis after verifying their credentials. These teachers are paid the salary of around Rs 32,000 per month.
But several candidates who could not qualify alleged that many of the selected candidates had forged mark-sheets and fake degrees. They forced the state government to inquire the matter.
It has now been found that around 3,000 of the 32,127 successful candidates have fake degrees. Out of them, 95 teachers got their BEd degrees either before their birth or much before attaining the age of 21.
