Shakuni flays Nitish as son remains in the Manjhi cabinet

Patna,(BiharTimes): Former minister and Janata Dal (United) leader, Shakuni Choudhary on Tuesday said that the former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar can no more provide the leadership to the party as he has lost his political clout and should quit from politics to save his face.

Criticizing the coalition with the RJD the father of Samrat Choudhary, urban development minister in the state cabinet, said Nitish is repeatedly committing mistakes in his attempts to feed his ego.

He said Lalu Prasad had not missed any opportunity to humiliate Nitish ever since the JD(U) had formalised an alliance with the RJD.

To substantiate his point Shakuni said in a bypoll rally in Bhagalpur Lalu had said: “If Nitish wants to sit in my lap, should I throw him away?.”

Shakuni said if Nitish has even an iota of self-respect, he should retire from active politics. He has been committing one mistake after another just because of his ego problem.

Incidentally, on the eve of Lok Sabha poll his son raised the banner of revolt against RJD chief and joined the JD(U). He even resigned from his Parbatta seat, where too by-poll is going to be held on August 21.

Though father and son were expecting to get the party ticket from Bhagalpur or Khagaria none of them got any. However, Samrat was later made MLC and inducted into the Jitan Ram Manjhi government after Nitish Kumar quit from his post.

Ironically, Samrat has been vocal in his support for Nitish.

Political observers are of the view that Shakuni wants to make his bargaining position strong as Banka, Bhagalpur and Parbatta are the three of the 10 Assembly constituencies, which are going for election on August 21. He has some clout among his castemen, Koeris, in these three constituencies.
