Manjhi’s snub compels Samrat to cancel UK visit

Patna,(BiharTimes): A day after coming down heavily on the Patna Municipal Corporation chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi virtually compelled the urban development minister, Samrat Choudhary, to cancel his trip to the United Kingdom, where he was going to study solid waste management system.

Manjhi on Thursday publicly expressed his displeasure at the foreign trip when large parts of Patna remained waterlogged.

The minister cancelled his trip after the snub from the chief minister.

When Manjhi was asked by reporters about Samrat’s visit to the UK he said the minister should not go outside the country when Patna is battling waterlogging.

Samrat, along with a team of officials, was to undertake the trip from Friday to study solid waste management system in that country.

It was only on Wednesday that the chief minister took the PMC to task for failing to pumpout water from the main localities of the state capital.

Incidentally, a couple of days back Samrat’s father, Shakuni Chaudhary, a former minister strongly criticized former chief minister Nitish Kumar for sitting on the lap of the RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
