Domestic supply of gas through pipe in 12 Bihar districts soon

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): With 385 km mainline and 360 km spur (branch) line passing through its 12 district Bihar is all set to be the second biggest beneficiary after West hBengal of the proposed 2,050-km long Jagdishpur-Phulpur-Haldia pipeline project. The pipeline will pass through West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and help supply gas directly to homes.
According to a Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) release in terms of coverage of area for gas distribution for domestic and industrial consumption, Bihar has emerged as the biggest beneficiary with its 12 districts set to get piped gas through this proposed project.
In all only 15 districts of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal will be benefited.
The release said the gas pipeline project will pass through Gaya, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Kaimur, Patna, Saran, Siwan, Muzaffarpur, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Begusarai and Siwan districts of Bihar.
The gas pipeline will serve as the Energy Highway to carry efficient and environment-friendly fuel to West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
Apart from, city gas distribution to the consumers, the pipeline will supply feedstock/fuel to fertilizer and power plants and major industries located in the region.
The estimated investment for the pipeline is projected at Rs 10,000 crore. The first phase of the pipeline will have a capacity of 16 mmscmd which would be augmented to 32 mmscmd in the second phase.
