Vigilance unearths assets worth Rs 2.55 crore from PMC official’s premises

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): The sleuths of Vigilance Investigation Bureau on Wednesday carried simultaneous raids on the residential and official premises of Executive Engineer of Patna Municipal Corporation, Lallan Prasad Singh, on Tuesday-Wednesday. The raids were carried in Patna, Nalanda and Sheikhpura districts and assets worth Rs 2.55 crore have been unearthed. A case has been registered against him.


The raids were carried on the orders of the Special Vigilance Court following registration of a case against him under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act. ADG(Vigilance) Ravindra Kumar said that the total income of Singh from job (salary and perks) during his service period and other sources was calculated at Rs 51 lakh.


Thus he has been accused of accumulating disproportionate assets worth Rs 1.8 crore. All the bank accounts have been frozen.Documents related to investments in real estate, insurance policies and purchase of jewellery have also been seized.Singh, who was posted at the Kankerbagh circle of the Patna Municipal Corporation, owned different plots of land in Patna, Sheikhpura and Nalanda districts. He also owned a four-storeyed house at Gandhi Nagar at an estimated worth of Rs 1.5 crore.Singh and his family members have 14 bank accounts and own two expensive cars. Singh had also got an arms licence issued in his name and purchased a revolver. Gold and silver jewellery worth over Rs eight lakh were also seized during the raid.


The executive engineer had purchased a flat for his son, Abhishek Kumar, for Rs 25 lakh at Anand Palace in the Boring Road locality. His wife Neelam Devi owned 1.5 acres of land each at Karon Tol in Nalanda and Rasalpur in Sheikhpura districts.He had recently purchased a bond of Rs 1.4 lakh of a private bank and invested Rs 7.98 lakh in insurance policies.
