NIT, Patna to start integrated MSc course from next year

Patna,(BiharTimes): Like several IITs the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Patna would launch a five-year integrated course in basic sciences–– Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics––from the academic session 2015-16.

According to the registrar of NIT, Patna K K Tiwary the institute decided to launch these courses after getting feedback from faculty members and the demand of students.

Though many universities allow students to discontinue the integrated course after three years offering them a graduation degree, NIT would not have this option. The degree would be awarded after completion of the five-year course only.

At present even IIT-Patna has no integrated course of five years. The admission in this course would be based on the score of IIT-JEE Mains examination. A student, while applying for the five-year integrated course, has to give his/her option while filling up JEE-Mains paper for the course.

The intake of students for integrated course would be 20 each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Many firms prefer integrated MSc from reputed institutes over the B Tech
