Five Bihar origin IPS heads different police forces of country

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): Five top IPS officers originally from Bihar head five important police, intelligence and security forces of the country. The CBI, IB, RPF, SPG and NCRB have Biharis at the top.

Old timers are of the view that perhaps this had never happened in the country in the past.

The latest to join the list is Kerala cadre 1979 batch IPS officer Dineshwar Sharma, who is most likely to take over as the new Director of Intelligene Bureau after the present incumbent, Asif Ibrahim, retires on December 31, 2014.Sharma was brought up in Pali village under Belaganj block of Gaya district. He is serving as the Special Director of the IB. Incidentally, Sharma is the ‘samdhi’ of former DGP of Bihar, Abhayanand, who too was in the race for the post of CBI Director. Abhayanand’s daughter is married to his son.

Only a couple of days back Anil Kumar Sinha took over as the Director of Central Bureau of Investigation, succeeding another IPS from Bihar, Ranjit Sinha, who retired on December 2.Anil, a Bihar cadre IPS of 1979 batch, is originally from Dumraon block of Buxar district of Bihar.

Gujarat cadre 1989 batch IPS officer Vivek Srivastav, is the new Special Protection Group (SPG) chief. He hails from Bihar, where his father was an IAS officer. The SPG protects the Prime Minister. Krishna Chaudhary, a 1979 batch Bihar cadre IPS officer, is the Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF). He took over on February 28 last. His father Arun Chaudhary was DGP of Bihar.

The 1978 batch Bihar cadre officer Rajiv Ranjan Verma is the Director General of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). He took over on January 1 last.
