Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi called on the Union home minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Monday and urged him to provide adequate number of central forces, especially Rapid Action Force, to tackle the issues arising out of porous border with Nepal and Maoist menace as well as
to maintain communal harmony in the state.

The chief minister also suggested to the Union home minister that Saran district should be included in the security-related expenditure scheme meant for Naxalite-hit districts and Bettiah be dropped from it.
He pleaded that the other pending demands of Bihar be conceded at the earliest.Manjhi told Rajnath Singh that the Bihar government had already submitted its proposal for Road Requirement Plan 2 on
completion of Plan 1 for construction of roads in rough terrain and hilly and forest areas and it should be approved. He also informed the Union home minister that land has been acquired for construction of an integrated check post at Raxaul in East Champaran and an additional cost of Rs 88.16 crore has been sought from the Centre.

The foundation stone for it was laid four years ago. The checkpost will provide facilities like security, immigration, customs and quarantine for smooth cross-border movement of people, goods and transport. The first such modern checkpost, equipped with high-tech security gadgets and other instruments to facilitate trade and immigration, has been operating at Attari along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab since 2012.

After the chief ministers’ conference he once again raised the issue of Rs 2,584 crore pension money which the Jharkhand government owed to Bihar. Manjhi told Singh that the Centre should help Bihar get this amount.
