PMC Executive Engineer gets relief from High Court

Patna,(BiharTimes): Granting relief to the executive engineer of the Patna Municipal Corporation, Lallan Prasad Singh, a division bench of Justice V N Sinha and Justice P K Jha of the Patna high court on Tuesday asked the Vigilance Investigation Bureau not to arrest or take any penal action against him in the disproportionate assets case.

The official and residential premises of Singh were raided by the Vigilance Investigation Bureau on Tuesday-Wednesday last. The court stayed the arrest till Singh explains his stand that he was implicated in a false case because he was involved in the measurement of several illegal complexes and subsequent demolition.

The court also said that ample time should be given to Singh to explain his position. The Bench also asked the Bureau to file its reply on the executive engineer’s allegations.A day after the raids his son, Amitesh Kumar, termed the raids as frivolous and the case against Lallan as false. He claimed that the raids were revenge in disguise as Lallan took strong action against the realtors who violated the PMC
rules.

Without taking any one’s name he alleged that one of those whose illegal structures were demolished is a Bahubali MLA who even threatened his father of dire consequences. His son also said that the amount disclosed by the Bureau is highly exaggerated as it included his own income and the ancestral property of his mother. It needs to be recalled that the Patna High Court has on several occasions pulled up the PMC for not doing enough against the builders, who are violating rules and norms.
