AAP membership drive elicits good response in Bihar

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has claimed that over 13 lakh people in Bihar became its members during its “Mein Bhi Aam Aadmi” campaign which began on January 10 and ended on January 26.
While 11.45 lakh got enrolled in the campaign another 1.6 lakh took online membership during the drive. The total figure is second only to Uttar Pradesh.
In Patna alone over one lakh people became AAP members.
According to Somnath Tripathi, in charge of AAP affairs in Bihar and Jharkhand the party was satisfied with the response. The party’s desire to contest the Lok Sabha election in all the 40 parliamentary seats got a boost by this drive.
He further added that though the campaign had ended, people could still visit the party’s offices and take membership.
As reported earlier the party has divided its organisational structure in the state into four zones.
The Muzaffarpur zone with membership of 4.25 lakh during the campaign topped the chart. About 55,000 people from East Champaran and Siwan joined AAP.
Mithilanchal zone, which comprises 12 districts, followed with 3.27 lakh membership. Kishanganj and Darbhanga recorded membership of over 50,000 each while over 40,000 people joined the party in Purnea.
In Magadh zone (in which Patna district too falls), 3.08 lakh people took membership while 87,000 people became members in Bhagalpur zone comprising six districts.
At least six AAP leaders from the state attended the party’s national council meeting in New Delhi.
