Bihta farmers protest construction of wall on BIADA land

Patna,(BiharTimes): Farmers of Bihta block of Patna district on Sunday disrupted construction work on BIADA land and staged blockade on Patna-Buxar Road near Sikandarpur village in protest against the non-payment of compensation to them by the Bihar Industrial Aread Development Authority.

Unlike Saturday on Sunday they came with their family members.

The farmers alleged that at least 30 per cent of those whose land had been acquired have not been paid a single penny as compensation for the land. They said that they would refuse to give land to the state government.

The farmers protested against the construction of wall on the land acquired by the state government for BIADA.

On Saturday the police had to use force after the SDO, Danapur and ASP failed to convince them to lift their siege. Several persons were injured in it.

On Sunday police arrested six people including the CPI ML leader, Gopal Singh.

Farmers said that in spite of repeated assurances from the authority they have not been paid compensation for the land acquired by BIADA.

They threatened to intensify their agitation further and would not let work continue on various government projects.

In the past too Bihta farmers have agitated to demand payment of compensation for the land acquired by educational institutions.

The farmers are led by Rananuj Prasad, Rajendra Prasad Yadav, Jasmati Devi, Satya Narayan Prasad etc.
