Enters Kahkashan Parween, quits Parween Amanullah from Nitish cabinet

Patna,(BiharTimes): In yet another setback to Janata Dal (United) Bihar’s Social Welfare Minister Parween Amanullah on Tuesday resigned from her post as well as the primary membership of the party. She has also quit her Assembly seat.

Announcing this to the media she said that since she was unable to work under the present system she decided to quit her post and want to return to the social service. She, however, said that she had no differences with the chief minister Nitish Kumar.

“I wanted to see that the Rajya Sabha election is over,” she said while disclosing her decision to quit. As she had made this mention political observers are of the view that denial of nomination for the Upper House of Parliament might be the reason to resign.

Only last month the party announced the nominations of Kahkashan Parween, Ramnath Thakur and Harivansh as the three new Rajya Sabha candidates. They won unopposed.

Parween Amanullah’s husband, Afzal Amanullah, a senior IAS officer, is now a secretary in the central government.

However, Parween downplayed any news of rift with any one in the party and said that “what more should I have got than a ministry, but I am quitting because I have to do more things…social service and help the people. I am going to continue with the public service.”

On the timing of her resignation, that is just after the Rajya Sabha election and before the Lok Sabha poll she said that in politics election take place quite regularly and her decision has nothing to do with elections. She said that by the resignation of one person the party is not going to be affected as there are many people who are ready to work.

She refused to disclosed the content of her letter by stating that “What I have written is a private conversation between the minister and the chief minister. I would soon send the letter to the Vidhan Sabha and the state party chief.”

On being repeatedly asked the reason of her resignation she said that “I can not make it public.” Than she told the mediapersons that “We would continue to talk.”

On whether she would reconsider her decision to quit she said that “I have made it public and I am not going to say anything more.”

On being asked as to what does she mean by system she said that it is not just ‘naukarshahi’ (bureaucracy), but something else too.

On being asked as to why she does not want to do social service as minister she replied here the ‘daira’ (scope) is less. “What I have i done is enough. I am not a baby-sitter who will sit with a baby for five years” further adding that she had joined the JD(U) to do better social work.

However, she had a regret that the work she could do in three years as minister should have been done in six months.

She even rejected the idea of clash with JD(U) MLA, Anand Singh, saying that there is no such dispute with anyone.

On AAP she said that "let us see its method.”

After repeated query she said the situation is fluid and she would certainly disclose her future plan.
She said that she has discussed the issue of resignation with her husband and children. “I was never stopped and prevented by my husband. The situation is the same today,” she said laughingly.
