CPI ML rejects Third Front idea, to contest 22 seats

Patna,(BiharTimes): Rejecting any idea of Third Front the CPI (ML) has decided to contest 22 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar on its own.

Speaking to the media after a two-day state committee convention on Tuesday, the CPI (ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said the party would field candidates in at least 60 parliamentary constituencies in the country.

He reiterated that the CPI ML was committed to prevent the BJP-led communal forces from coming to power. At the same time it was opposed to the anti-people Congress.

However, he hinted that the option of post-poll alliance was open for the party. He said the party’s candidates were almost decided and would be announced soon.

Warning the other Left parties he said their leaders and workers should exercise their intelligence, instead of getting confused about the secular sham being put up by some parties.

Bhattacharya also refused any alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party. The issues of inflation, corruption, unemployment, irregularities in power bills and cancellation of liquor licences would be high on the poll agenda of the party.

He said the chief minister Nitish Kumar’s claims of power to every home failed to take any concrete shape and the CPI ML would soon launch a Bijli Adhikar Aandolan against wrong bills. A lot of abnormalities are also seen in the socio-economic and caste census underway in the state.

The CPI ML is also set to launch a series of Jan Davedari Rallies from February 8 to 21. The issues that have cropped up during the Jan Samvad Yatra in January would be taken up by the party.

AIPWA national secretary Kavita Krishnan, CPI (ML) state secretary Kunal and politburo member Dhirendra Jha were also present at the Press conference.
