RJD, BJP both to hold rally in Muzaffarpur on March 3

Patna,(BiharTimes): Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav said on Tuesday that it is upto Nitish Kumar to decide whether he wants to allot the land in Muzaffarpur to his friend, Narendra Modi, or to him to organize a rally.
He said that his party is going to hold its workers’ meet on March 3 in Muzaffarpur. “I have talked to the district magistrate. Till two days back when we applied for the venue he had not allotted the land to the BJP,“ he said adding that “Let them (the BJP) hold its meeting. We are not against it.”
However, he added: “I am not going to any other small field. I have appealed to the workers to come up in a big number.”
The RJD has applied for the Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT) ground or the one near the police lines to hold its workers’ meet on March 3.
The RJD’s decision to hold rally on the same day has definitely landed the district administration in a difficult position as BJP rally, in particular, demands a lot of security. The Hunkar Rally of October 27 in Patna was marred by blasts in which about half a dozen people were killed.
According to RJD MP, Ram Kripal Yadav, it makes no difference to his party if Modi addresses his public meeting in the same city at the same time. He claimed that Lalu’s rally would be larger than that of Modi.
On the other hand the BJP state chief, Mangal Pandey, said in democracy one has the right to address a meeting any time. It is up to the district administration to take care of the security arrangements.
He said his party had announced about Modi’s rally in Muzaffarpur on March 3 about a week ago. Lalu has made a decision after that.
It is on February 8, that the BJP applied for the MIT ground, the police lines field and the Awasiya field. All the three are next to each other. The district administration is yet to officially allot a ground for the any rally.
Muzaffarpur district magistrate Anupam Kumar told the media that the district administration has no problem in making arrangements for the two parties. It is upto the MIT principal to give its permission for the use of its ground.
If the two rallies really took place at two different venues in the vicinity to each other it would be a great challenge to both the parties too. They would try their level best to bring more and more supporters to their respective meetings.
