Insurance plan for journalists launched in Bihar

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): The state government on Monday formally launched Bihar Rajya Patrakar Bima Yojana, 2014 to provide group mediclaim and personal accident insurance to 3,000 working journalists.
According to State information and public relations department secretary Pratyay Amrit group mediclaim up to Rs five lakh per annum on a floating basis to journalist, his/her spouse and two dependant offsprings and personal accident insurance up to Rs five lakh to the insured journalist only would be provided under the scheme, which will come into effect from February 20.
He said all journalists working with the non-government electronic and print media and having five years of work experience would be covered under the scheme.
Amrit also said all journalists in the age group of 21-70 are eligible to apply for the insurance scheme.
As reported earlier journalist would have to pay only Rs 1,794 as 20% contribution of the annual premium (of Rs 8,970) while the rest 80% contribution (Rs 7,176) would be paid by the state government.
An agreement has been signed with the National Insurance Company Limited to run the scheme for one year.
He urged the journalists to submit their requisite papers and 20% premium contribution to the office of the district public relations officer (DPRO) concerned before February 20.
