Would sacrifice chair, but not compromise on principles: Nitish

Patna,(BiharTimes): Speaking almost in the style of Arvind Kejriwal Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday said that he is prepared to sacrifice his chief ministerial chair but is not going to make any compromise on the principles.

Addressing Sankalp Rally in Deedarganj on the eastern suburb of Patna he once attacked the BJP for betraying the alliance dharma by announcing the name of Narendra Modi for the post of prime minister. He said that the alliance between the BJP and Janata Dal (United) lasted for 17 long years simply because both the parties adhered to the understanding that no controversial issues would be raised and no such personality would be projected for the post of prime minister.

He said that his party started dissociating itself a couple of years ago simply because it felt that the BJP has violated this agreement.

Ridiculing the manner in which the BJP is seeking votes to make Modi the prime minister of the country he once again said: “De de Ram, dila de ram, Pradhan Mantri Ki Kursi Dila De Ram.” Is this the way that one wants to become the prime minister of the country?

The Sankalp Rally of Patna was the last in the series of a dozen rallies organized across the state. The rally was held at the eastern outskirts of Patna so that supporters from neighbouring Nalanda district could also attend it. Nitish applauded the courage of the crowd who came on the chilly winter afternoon to attend it. He said a large number of people attended his Sankalp rallies in Gaya and other places during very cold and rainy weather condition.

He once again came down at the pre-poll surveys and asked why is it that surveys are coming up after every four days. If Modi has actually won the election on the basis of surveys then why not he goes and takes the oath of prime minister without contesting any election?

Picking up holes in these surveys he said that if these surveys say that 63 per cent people like Nitish Kumar as the chief minister of Bihar why is it that the same surveys say that in the Lok Sabha poll the BJP would win and JD(U) would be defeated?

He said that the people of the country are not going to be carried away by the propaganda of the “hawa bandhne wale log”(the one who boasts too much).

India can be run only by those who talk about “mel mohabbat, not takrao” (love and affection and not conflict), he said.
