Nitish challenges Nand Kishore on Hingora abduction charge

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday strongly denied that the CID report states that the payment of the ransom money for the release of Sohail Hingora was made at the house of any senior Janata Dal (United) leader in Patna.
Replying to a debate on the Motion of Thanks on Governor’s Address he openly challenged the leader of opposition, Nand Kishore Yadav, to prove that the CID report makes any such mention. “What to speak of Janata Dal (United) leader it has not made any reference to the involvement of any political person,” he said.
“You said that the payment was made in the house in the high-security zone (of Patna). I sought the CID report immediately after your speech yesterday. This is the report,” the chief minister said.
“Either Nand Kishore Yadav apologize (maafi mangen) for misleading the House or he should prove that the CID report has made any reference about the JD(U) leader. If he proves so I am prepared to take any action,” the chief minister said.
He accused the BJP of indulging in rumour-mongering. As the chief minister was speaking the BJP members walked out of the House. Upon this the chief minister said that they are not prepared to listen to the fact.
“No such mention has been made in the CID report, which you referred to yesterday,” the chief minister said adding that Hanif Hingora came to Chapra on November 28 last to secure the release of his son. The following day he went to Gujarat.
He said eight persons, including Praveen Singh, were arrested but none had any political connection. In fact Praveen was married during the month long captivity of Sohail.
The chief minister also mentioned about the money deposited by the captors in various banks. They even purchased a Pajero worth Rs 26 lakh.
Lashing out at the BJP Nitish said the BJP people are engaged in the ‘jhoot ki kheti’ (manufacturing falsehood). He said that in the last eight years he had never defended or protected anyone involved in any such activities. He strongly denounced the BJP for hurling baseless allegations on his government ever since they parted ways.
The chief minister said that the matter is now in the court and “we have details of the progress made in this regard. I am tabling it before the House.”
He came down heavily on the BJP leaders for tarnishing the image of minority welfare minister, Shahid Ali Khan, simply because he is a Muslim.
The chief minister once again took strong exception to the way the SSB letter came to the Special Task Force (STF) which has nothing to do with the issue.
Since the SSB letter talks about the terrorists connection it should have been sent to the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and not to STF, which deals with the extremists (Maoists).
Besides, since it involves a minister the letter should have come through higher authorities.
The chief minister said that the letter mentions that the two alleged Indian Mujahideen operatives had affiliation with Shahid Ali, currently a minister. Even it did not mention the full name of the minister.
He said the state government got the matter probed throught the SPs of Sitamarhi and East Champaran and they had cleared the name of the minister.
The chief minister said that Intelligence inputs are serious matter and are shared by different agencies and not in the manner in which the SSB had raised.
If there is a nodal officer in the ATS than why this letter was sent to STF, he said again. “If the matter was related to a minister why was I not informed,” he asked.
Rejecting the BJP charge on the issue he said “Yah bakwas hai,” (all these things are nonsense) “yet our government is raising the conduct of the SSB with the Centre.”
The chief minister even pooh-poohed the BJP leader for raising the issue of Parween Amanullah’s letter. “Nand Kishoreji asked that the letter should be brought to the public domain. Why is he so much interested in it. If he is so much concerned about it why not ask Parween Amanullah to make it public,” he said adding that “in the meeting I had with her she only asked me to relieve her.”
Everyone knows that she was earlier associated with Arvind Kejriwal in the campaign for Right to Information. It is on her suggestion that the state government introduced the concept of Call Centre for seeking information. It is working very well here.
The chief minister reiterated that the then BJP chief, Nitin Gadkari, assured him that Narendra Modi would not be made the prime ministerial candidate but he was betrayed.
Nitish Kumar said that Advaniji rang him on the eve of split to assure him of the promise made by Nitin Gadkari but he told him that the latter is no more the BJP chief.
Vowing not to go back to the BJP he said: Rahen Ya mitti mein mil jain lekin dubara BJP ke saath nahin jayenge. (I will prefer to perish rather than go back to BJP).
