Tarakant’s exit exposes infighting within BJP

Patna,(BiharTimes): The resignation of Tarakant Jha from the primary membership of the party at the time when everything is apparently going right for the party certainly came as a jolt to the saffron brigade.

Electorally he may not fetch much votes for the Janata Dal (United) even from his Brahmin caste but it has exposed the differences within the party.

“If a man who still praises Narendra Modi and says that he still praises RSS ideology quits the BJP and joins the Janata Dal (United) at the height o the battle than there is something seriously wrong within the BJP. The Narendra Modi factor is not going to solve all these problems and party may have to pay if the infighting continues to persists,” commented an observer.

It is because of this that leaders in the party, who are dead against the former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi have raised serious questions. Some of them are openly saying that it is not a good sign for the party.

Former minister and a leading light of anti-Sushil Modi faction within the party, Giriraj Singh, said that this decision of Tara Babu is neither in the interest of the party nor his own.

Similarly the outspoken, Harendra Pratap, said that if Tarakant Jha is angry the party should probe the reason for it.

There are many in the BJP who think that Tarakant Jha is now a spent force but they agree that he had played a very important role in nurturing the party when it was required most. The exit of a former state BJP chief and oldest Swamsevak like him on the eve of Lok Sabha election had certainly given psychological advantage to the Janata Dal (United). The BJP tried to neutralize the impact by inducting into the party fold former MLC of JD(U), Prof Chandrama Singh, and his supporters into the party fold. But the latter was no match to Tarakant Jha so far stature is concerned.

The BJP can now not accuse Nitish Kumar of mistreating ailing George Fernandes when it meted out the same treatment to leader like Tarakant Jha, was how a critic commented.
