Nitish continues to be poorer than son, ministerial colleagues

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar continues to be poorer than his 17 ministerial colleagues as well as his own son, Nishant.

As per the affidavit Nitish Kumar has Rs 17,909 cash in hand, an increase by only Rs 3,400 from 2012 while his assets stand at Rs 6.88 lakh, almost similar to what was last year.

However, the valuation of property of his son has increased substantially––from Rs 47 lakh to Rs 1.15 crore. His movable assets have also increased from Rs 77 lakh to Rs 81.68 lakh in 2012. There is farm land in Kalyanbigha in his name.

The movable assets of the chief minister include an air-conditioner, a computer, air cooler, tread-mill, four cows, and four calves. Last year he had two cows and two calves.

According to assets and liabilities declared by him and his ministers for the year 2013 on the last day of the year––which is the deadline––education minister Prashant Kumar Shahi is the richest among ministers having movable and immovable property worth Rs 5.72 crore. This is an increase by Rs 1.08 crore from the declaration made by him on December 31, 2012. His wife, Shyama Shahi owns movable and immovable assets worth Rs 1.15 crore.

Information and public relations minister, Brishen Patel, agriculture minister Narendra Singh and rural development minister Nitish Mishra, have movable and immovable assets between Rs one crore and Rs three crore. Ministers having assets less than Rs one crore are revenue and land reforms minister Ramai Ram, rural works department minister, Bhim singh, water resources minister, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, social welfare minister, Parveen Amanullah and food minister, Shyam Rajak.

Shyam Rajak has a Honda City and Scorpio while his wife owns a Fortuner.

Among ministers Jitan Ram Manjhi is the poorest.

While the ministers have already filed their affidavits regarding their assets, IAS officers can make their declaration till January 31.

This year Bihar has 11 less ministers as all of them belonging to the BJP were sacked by Nitish on June 16 last.

Assets details were uploaded on the cabinet secretariat department’s website on Tuesday. This is the fourth year in succession that the CM and ministers have declared their assets. The first time they had announced their property was on the last day of 2010 after the NDA came to power once again.
