Nitish inaugurates fully automatic dairy plant in Biharsharif

Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday inaugurated the first fully automatic dairy and tetra-packaging project of eastern india at Biharsharif.

Speaking on the occasion he said the Rs 135 crore Nalanda Dairy plant, which has a four lakh litres milk processing and 6,600 litres per hour tetra packaging capacity, is of international standard and the need for milk powder in the state as well as in several other eastern and northeastern states would be fulfilled from here.

The chief minister said the milk for the project would be managed from outside but soon Nalanda and adjoining districts would fulfil its need. He said a milk cooperative consisting of Nalanda, Nawada and Sheikhpura districts would be formed to source milk for the plant.

He announced a Rs 700 crore loan to the dairy sector and said it would substantially boost milk production in the state and make it self-reliant in the sector.

Urging the farmers and entrepreneurs to join milk and fishery sector the chief minister said fish production in the state is growing at a fast pace and the quantum of fish import in the state from south is gradually decreasing. If the present pace is sustained, the fish import in the state would soon be a thing of the past, he claimed and added that the turnaround in the sector happened as the farmers and entrepreneurs realized the potentials in the sector.

Through remote he also laid the foundation of seven dairy projects, which will come up in Nalanda, Purnia, Samastipur, Munger and Patna districts at an estimated cost of Rs 190.26 crore.
