Patna,(BiharTimes): Retired IPS officer Ram Chandra Khan was on Tuesday arrested by CBI in connection with the three decades old Bihar Military Police uniform scam.
The arrest came after a warrant was issued by a trial court in Ranchi. He was evading arrest for past six months.
According to the CBI nine persons, including retired IPS officers Khan and Rajendra Sharma, are accused in the scam and charges against them were framed in 2007 under various Sections of IPC and provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.
Irregularities of over Rs 40 lakh (a much bigger amount in mid-1980s) in the purchase of uniform and other related articles for Bihar Military Police during 1983-85.
CBI had registered an FIR in this connection in 1986.
It needs to be recalled that Khan had then made an image of being a tough and no nonsense officer.
He was then AIG (D) while Sharma was the Commandant in Bihar Military Police.
