JD(U) drops all three sitting RS MPs N K Singh, Shivanand Tiwary and Sabir Ali

Patna,(BiharTimes): In a surprising move the Janata Dal (United) dropped all the three sitting Rajya Saba MPs: N K Singh, Shivanand Tiwary and Sabir Ali. They have been offered to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Banka, Buxar and Seohar respectively.
Though sources close to party’s national president Sharad Yadav in New Delhi confirmed the news to the BiharTimes the final announcement is yet to be made. Sources have not yet confirmed as who would be their replacement. Sharad is in Patna to attend the birth anniversary function of the former chief minister Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur.
Reports also said that Shivanand Tiwary has refused to contest the Lok Sabha election while N K Singh too is not likely to accept the offer.
Shivanand has not contested the Lok Sabha election, but has been to the Bihar Assembly in the past.
N K Singh is a retired bureaucrat, who has never contested any election. But Banka is his mother, Manorama Singh’s home turf. But she was in the Congress. At present it is being represented by Putul Singh, widow of Digvijay Singh. She had recently joined the BJP.
Though Sabir Ali is a businessman from Mumbai he is originally from Seohar. But the problem for him is that he too has never contested any Lok Sabha election.
Analysts are of the view that Shivanand’s name was virtually deleted on Oct 28 itself when he publicly criticized Nitish Kumar in a Chintan Shivir of the party at Rajgir. That was just a day after the Hunkar Rally of Narendra Modi in Patna.
N K Singh repotedly paid the price for his utter failure to get the special category status to Bihar. Initially chief minister Nitish Kumar had hailed the Raghuram Rajan Committee report and termed it as the victory of the Bihar government. The party celebrated it in a big way in the state. Later when the report was read in detail it was found that the Committee let down the state and N K Singh’s role failed to yield any result.
Sabir Ali was made the Delhi unit chief of Janata Dal (United) before the last December Assembly election. But the rout of the party proved dear to him. Even the lone MLA, Shoaib Iqbal, crossed over to the Aam Admi Party after the victory. In fact he won on his own and had nothing to do with the party as he has been representing his Asssembly constituency for the last 20 years.
The three leaders are somewhat jittery in contesting the Lok Sabha election as they do not enjoy the mass base. Yet the party workers are confident that the Nitish magic would once again work.
