Sharad Yadav, Ram Sundar Das, Sanjay Jha may be JD(U) candidates for Rajya Sabha

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Janata Dal (United) may sent the party president, Sharad Yadav, former Bihar chief minister Ram Sundar Das and party leader Sanjay Jha to Rajya Sabha from Bihar.

They would replace N K Singh, Shivanand Tiwary and Sabir Ali. They have been offered to contest Lok Sabha election from Banka, Buxar and Seohar parliamentary constituencies.

Sources said that Sharad Yadav appears somewhat jittery over contesting from Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency, which he is till now representing. With the revival of Lalu Prasad’s RJD the Janata Dal (United) president is now not sure to win in the Yadav-dominated constituency.

With BJP fighting separately Sharad Yadav is not sure of future political development, therefore, he wants to be safely elected to the Upper House.

Ram Sundar Das is in 90s and not strong enough to campaign and contest the Lok Sabha election from Hajipur, which was for long represented by LJP chief, Ram Vilas Paswan.

Some political observers are of the view that the Janata Dal (United) wants to withdraw Ram Sundar Das to facilitate the entry of Ram Vilas Paswan. So the party has, in a way, given an offer to the LJP for an alliance.

But some other analysts are of the view that it would be too early to say this. As Ram Sundar Das has grown weak––because of the old age––the Janata Dal (United) may even think of putting up a much stronger candidate from Hajipur. In that case he would be taking on Ram Vilas quite seriously.

The third candidate, Sanjay Jha, is personally too close to Nitish Kumar. Though the chief minister first got him elected as the BJP MLC he was in all practical purpose a JD(U) leader.

He is from Mithilanchal region of Bihar and like Shivanand Tiwary, a Brahmin. Till now another casteman, Divesh Chandra Thakur, also a JD(U) MLC, was aspiring to go to the Upper House of Parliament.
