Nitish offers Sharad Nalanda parliamentary seat

Patna,(BiharTimes): In another political development Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has reportedly offered the party president Sharad Yadav the Nalanda parliamentary constituency to contest the coming Lok Sabha election.
Till Thursday evening it was almost clear that Sharad, along with Ram Sundar Das and Sanjay Jha, would be sent to the Upper House of Parliament in place of N K Singh, Shivanand Tiwary and Sabir Ali.
However, in the late night development the chief minister reportedly offered Nalanda seat to Sharad. But the latter, according to reports, is not interested in contesting from Nalanda.
Aware of the political uncertainty, which may trigger another Lok Sabha election in future, Sharad wants to be safely elected for the Rajya Sabha for next six years.
Apart from this, he does not want to remain in the clutches of Nitish Kumar. True Nalanda is a relatively safe constituency for Janata Dal (United) yet Sharad is fully aware of the fate of George Fernandes, whom Nitish forced to shift back to his old constituency of Muzaffarpur in 2004.
Nitish contested both from Barh and Nalanda. He lost from the former.
Though George won from Muzaffarpur in 2004 in 2009 the party even denied him ticket from there. The ailing Socialist contested on his own but lost.
Sharad is in Patna on Friday to attend the function on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur.
Sources said that Nitish wants to send new faces to Rajya Sabha. At the same time he is compelling all those to contest Lok Sabha election whom he wants to dump. As it would not be good to throw them out of the party he is doing his best to elbow them out by offering them something which they would never accept easily.
