Nitish, Congress trade charges over AMU invitation

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday strongly criticized the Centre for not inviting anyone from the state government for the inauguration of the off campus branch of the Aligarh Muslim University in Kishanganj on January 30.

Talking to the media in the state Assembly he asked why was the state government not informed or invited about the inauguration of the campus. “Whose land is this on which the inauguration is going to take place. Has the state government no share in it,” he asked.

On the other hand the Congress has strongly criticized the chief minister for politicizing a totally non-political issue by spreading canards among the people, especially the minorities of the state.

In a statement the media incharge of the Bihar Congress, Prem Chand Mishra, said that the vice chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University (General Zamiruddin Shah) had invited both the governor and the chief minister of the state. Nitish Kumar is deliberately creating confusion. His education minister, P K Shahi, wrote a letter to the Centre and now he himself had raised the issue, the Congress leader said.

The state government should instead be happy that such a big educational institution is coming up in the state, but it is politicizing the issue when there is absolutely no scope for it, Mishra said.
