Patna,(BiharTimes): Journalists in Bihar would now be covered under group insurance and mediclaim schemes. The structure and parameters of the “Bihar Rajya Patrakar Bima Yojana 2014” would be decided soon. This scheme would be implemented from February 20, 2014.

According to the state cabinet decision each journalist, including spouse and two children, would be given insurance cover of Rs five lakh, for which the journalist would have to pay 20 per cent of premium amount while the remaining 80 per cent would be given by the government. A sum of over Rs 2.15 crore would be spent per annum by the government.

There are about 3,000 journalists in both print and electronic media in the state, who would be covered under the scheme.
