Nitish blames Cong for 1984, 1989 riots, BJP for 2002 bloodbath

Patna,(BiharTimes): Following the controversy over Rahul Gandhi’s statement on anti-Sikh riots Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday held the Congress not only responsible for the 1984 riots in Delhi, but also for the 1989 Bhagalpur riots. In the same vein he directly blamed the former partner the Bharatiya Janata Party for the 2002 bloodbath in Gujarat.

Talking to the media in Bihar Assembly he ruled out any alliance with any political party in Bihar. He said that his party, the Janata Dal (United), would go it alone in the state in the coming Lok Sabha election.

“In fact we do not need any alliance as we have full faith in the people,” he said adding that the RJD-Congress-LJP alliance is an old one and his party is not going to be affected by the recent development in this regard.

Nitish was present in the Assembly at the time of the filing of nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha election by the party candidates, Ramnath Thakur, Kahkashan Parween and Harivansh.
